The Member of Parliament for Gem Constituency, Hon. Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo, paid a courtesy visit to Kenya’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO in Paris on Monday, 14 September 2026.
Hon. Odhiambo was received by H.E. Prof. Peter Ngure at the Mission’s offices at UNESCO. Also present was Amb. Dr. Kasera Achayo, Deputy Permanent Delegate of Kenya to UNESCO.
The visit provided an opportunity for the MP to be briefed on Kenya’s engagement and activities within UNESCO, as well as UNESCO programmes and initiatives being implemented in Kenya.
The discussions offered Hon. Odhiambo an insight into the role played by Kenya’s Permanent Delegation in advancing the country’s interests within UNESCO, particularly across the organisation’s areas of competence, including education, science, culture, communication and information.
As part of the visit, Hon. Odhiambo was also taken on a tour of the Mission’s premises, where he had an opportunity to interact with members of staff and learn more about the Delegation’s day-to-day work.
The courtesy visit highlighted the importance of engagement between Kenya’s elected representatives and its diplomatic missions abroad, helping strengthen understanding of Kenya’s participation in multilateral institutions such as UNESCO.
