An efficient Delegation committed to Pursuing the values and aspirations of the Kenyan people in UNESCO.

MISSION STATEMENT
To effectively project, promote and protect Kenya’s interests at UNESCO through innovative diplomacy

OUR MANDATE 
To effectively represent the Government and the people of Kenya within UNESCO and promote Kenya’s National Interests in UNESCO, its affiliate agencies and partner Organizations.

OUR SERVICES 

We provide the following services:

To the People of Kenya

  • Information on National Policy and new Developments at UNESCO
  • Lobbying for high level employment opportunities in UNESCO and its Programmes, agencies and funds
  • Promotion of the Image, culture and interest of the Kenyan People.
  • Information on Internships.
  • Information on projects and awards 

To Government Ministries, Department and Institutions

  • Coordination and participation in multilateral, Regional and bilateral negotiations at UNESCO
  • Provision of strategic information on events
  • Coordination and Participation of Government Delegation at UNESCO Meetings and Conferences.
  • Provision of protocol services for visiting Delegations.
  • Lobbying for strategic interests and concerns as presented by the line Ministries /Departments.
  • Preparation of Briefs, Country positions, Interventions and reports relating to UNESCO.
  • Liaising with Kenyan Government agencies for various services required by UNESCO 

To UNESCO

  • Transmission of official correspondences
  • Liaison Services
  • Facilitate Negotiations on Kenya’s areas of interest or upon request
  • Provision of advice on Kenya’s related positions/matter
  • Follow up on specific and strategic matters relating to UNESCO
  • Ensure updated information on UNESCO Projects in Kenya.

To Permanent Delegation accredited to UNESCO and Observer Missions to UNESCO

  • Liaison with MFA and other MDA’s
  • Elaboration of Kenya’s positions on various issues.
  • Contributions to debates and negotiations on individual and country group matters.

OUR SERVICE STANDARDS
The Permanent Delegation of Kenya to UNESCO is committed to provide high quality service to our stakeholders by:

  • Responding to all enquires and correspondences within two (2) working days; 
  • Using modern technologies and innovation to improve service delivery;
  • Effective consultation with stakeholders where appropriate; 
  • Answering and returning your phone calls promptly;  
  • Attending to our clients promptly upon arrival; 
  • Preparing reports within three (3) working days;
  • Proactively communicate information with stakeholders in a timely manner;
  • Promptly following-up all assignments;
  • Being accountable and transparent in use of resources;
  • Provide  conducive working environment
  • Continously improve procedures for monitoring the quality of our services
  • Adhering to our stated core values.

  • Provide accurate, timely information and documentation to facilitate prompt action;
  • Uphold professionalism and integrity in your interactions with us;
  • Treat our staff courteously and with respect;
  • Respect our Kenyan culture and values;
  • Respect our procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Provide critical suggestions to help us improve our services.

FEEDBACK
Your comments and suggestions on our performance are highly welcome to enable us meet your expectations and improve on our services. The Permanent Delegation will use the feedback and suggestions received to evaluate our performance on a monthly basis.

COMPLAINTS
The Permanent Delegation commits to handle and resolve complaints within thirty (30) days from the date of receipt. Appeal cases will be addressed within thirty (30) days from the date of appeal. Complaints should be addressed to the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Kenya to UNESCO through the address and channels of communications provided in this Service Charter.
