At the 43rd UNESCO General Conference held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Kenya was represented by H.E. Amb. Prof. Peter Ngure, Permanent Delegate of Kenya to UNESCO. In his national intervention, Amb. Ngure reaffirmed Kenya’s strong commitment to multilateral cooperation, inclusive education, cultural heritage preservation, digital innovation, and the protection of Africa’s youth potential.
He underscored Kenya’s leadership in championing educational transformation, including the ongoing curriculum reforms and investments in digital learning platforms that expand access and reduce disparities. The Ambassador also highlighted Kenya’s continued work with UNESCO on safeguarding cultural and natural heritage sites, supporting creative industries, and advancing freedom of expression and information integrity in the digital age.
Amb. Ngure further emphasized the importance of strengthening UNESCO’s support to Africa, calling for increased capacity-building partnerships, fair resource distribution, and enhanced support for developing Member States.
Kenya’s intervention reaffirmed the country’s commitment to working collaboratively with UNESCO and global partners to promote peace, knowledge-sharing, sustainable development, and innovation for future generations.
