Paris, June 2025 – The Republic of Kenya received international recognition during the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) and 60 Years of Water Sciences at UNESCO, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
The Award of Recognition was presented to Ms. Eva Maina, Minister at the Permanent Delegation of Kenya to UNESCO, in her capacity as Chair of the Communication and Outreach Committee as well as Secretary to the Taskforce organising the anniversary celebrations.
Ms. Maina was among several individuals recognized during the ceremony for their significant contributions to the success and visibility of this global milestone event.
The IHP, established in 1975, remains the only intergovernmental programme in the UN system dedicated to water research, education, and policy. The recognition of Ms. Maina reflects her commitment and dedication in ensuring that Kenya continues to play an active role in advancing multilateral cooperation in water sciences.
