Strengthening Global Partnerships for Sports Integrity
On the sidelines of COP10, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Salim Mvurya, together with the Kenya Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, held strategic discussions with Ms. Lidia Brito, UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences Sector.
The meeting focused on key areas including anti-doping efforts, sports ethics, and capacity building to foster a culture of clean competition. Kenya shared updates on national reforms in sports governance and monitoring systems, while UNESCO commended Kenya’s active role and commitment to the International Convention against Doping in Sport.

Both sides agreed that promoting clean sport supports the vision of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by building trust, protecting young athletes, and fostering social transformation through sports.
“Fairness, ethics, and integrity in sport are the foundation of national pride and youth empowerment.”
