Kenya’s Ambassador Pays Tribute to Zambia’s Former President H.E. Edgar Lungu

Paris, 12 June 2025 — On Thursday, 12 June 2025, H.E. Ambassador Peter K. Ngure, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Kenya to UNESCO, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Paris to sign the book of condolences following the passing of Former President H.E. Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

Ambassador Ngure expressed the deep sorrow and solidarity of the Government and people of Kenya with the Republic of Zambia and its citizens during this time of mourning. In his message, he conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the Zambian nation, acknowledging the late President Lungu’s contribution to regional peace, democratic governance, and socio-economic development in Africa.

President Edgar Lungu, who served as the sixth President of Zambia from 2015 to 2021, will be remembered for his commitment to national unity, stability, and public service. His leadership left a significant mark not only in Zambia but across the region.

The signing of the condolences book reflects the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation that continue to unite Kenya and Zambia. Ambassador Ngure reiterated Kenya’s solidarity with the people of Zambia, affirming a shared commitment to African unity and progress.
